Happy Thanksgiving Back!!--Dec. 1, 2014

This week FLEW by! basically the highlight..... last monday we went hiking. kinda sorta not really. mostly we just went to the area of the elders and this is the view.

Then we celebrated thanksigving. #barriomiramar and before we went around the table saying what we are gratefull for. it was a tear jerker.

Then we had a capacitacion with the missionaries in lima so i got to see hna alonoso. #soulsisters

Then we worked like crazies, went to the bank, ate ice cream, worked some more, and that's about it. haha

okay so Sxxx and Lxxx couldn't come to church this week, so we are working with them for the 13 instead. But they are so cute and are really trying hard to read in the book of mormon together every night. They are so awesome. And we always end up helping Lxxx as well with his homework which is kinda fun. haha oh kids.

Then we are also teaching Jxxx who has been coming to church for a month now. So sunday we had a really cool lesson with him and just talked about why it is necessary to be baptized and at the end we invited him to get baptized saturday. He was pretty indecisive but we really feel like he is ready to make the decision and that it's his time. so we are going to work like crazy this week to get him to the font.

Besides that We are teaching a lot of families the first lesson but then can never seem to get into their house again, so we are going to start being more creative in our ideas to find new people to teach. Like caroling. haha we have some good christmas stuff planned.

Anyways we had a super awesome week here! glad to know the holidays went well there! hopefully it snows there! ha we are cooking here!!!!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!

also here we are on the docks. you can see all the cool fishing boats. ´tis the season

and barrio miramar. The missionaries. the bishop and his wife, and his son our ward mission leader.

November 17, 2014--sup...

Hey looks like you were able to have a fun birthday bash! I am so glad! This week went by a little bit slower than normal and here I am again writing you all! so the most exciting thing is that last night they broadcasted a training for the area in which we were a part of. which was sooo sick. even though I haven't actually seen it...... but everyone is jealous of us. At least that is the word on the street hahah... Only a few missionaries in our mission got to see it and we weren't one of them but it sounds like it was good. I'll bring home a copy... Description: https://mail.google.com/mail/e/347 hahah an autographed copy, ha but today one of my best friends who is serving in colombia emailed me because he saw it so that's pretty cool not gonna lie. #winninglikeaboss

Anyways we also just had a good week. We had eight investigators come to church yesterday which was awesome, even though some of them really have a long ways to go until baptism but it still was great to have so many people at churhc.

Also we've been kinda sorta teaching Jxxx, the brother of a recent convert here. We teach him maybe once a week because we don't really know how serious to take him. He has a lot of problems going on but this week he really started reading the book of mormon and at church he told us that he hadn't drunk in three weeks. We couldn't believe it. He has changed so much. So this week we are going to focus on him a little bit more and invite him to be baptized. And really teach him and try to help him get there. We haven't really ever focused on him so we're gonna see what happens there.

Anyways cambios are tomorrow so we'll see what happens. time goes by way to fast here......

love you all!!!

Love,

Hermana Degn

November 10, 2014--Serpost!

hola familia bonita!

Mostly that just applies to pretty abby! wow! you are all just getting sooo old! bella and josh. i can't believe here we are one year later and you have another birthday! that's just not fair!

The good news is that serpost finally opened this week!!! YEAH! sooo i will be mailing something home next week for you too! and that means that you can try sending me something if you want and we'll hope for the best that it gets here!!!

Anyways this week was super super fast. we had interviews, and a multi-zona, and the week was over. It was full of fun adventures, good peruivan food, and a lot of new goals set.

I sure love being with hna gutierrez. she is sooo awesome! we are having such a good time together and yesterday we got quite a few of our investigators to church which is always a bit of a relief.

We also had a neat experience where we went back to an old investgator and she told us that she had been praying that we would visit her again. So we are going to help her and her son get baptized, hopefully the 29th.

anyways i learned sooo much this about fasting and living the commandments. I guess i really just keep learning about how much i don't know. But wow, i have been filled with a new fire to be able to learn all that i can and to be able to come a truly great teacher. which really just means working with the holy ghost so that other's hearts can be touched.

on a funnier note our toilet died, we got a new one and now we don't have a toilet seat. i'm dying. literally. also yesterday we talked to a guy who is 34, single, without children. I was shocked. and he was home by himself watching Titanic. what kind of peruvian is he I don't know but he doesn't work sundays so it's a sign. we are going to baptize him. And he is going to take us out to eat chicken.  we'll see how that goes-

one more funny thing. This week we taught this lady Mxxx, who is sooo wierd! we had the wierdest experience in her house. i kinda felt like harry and hermione when they go back to godric's hollow and talk to batty but she's really the snake. And we both felt a little unsafe and called our district leader, saying just call us back in an our and make sure we are okay. then we teach her for maybe 5 minutes and she tells us she has to go. um okay? but she wants us to go back??? anyways so false alarm on the scary note so now we are more motivated to always go with members hahaha. this week was just super interesting. and i am sorry this email makes no sense. it's the story of my week.

hahah love you all!!!

Happy birthday josh and bella!!!

also last night we realized we hadn't taken any pictures this week #fail. so that's us

November 3, 2014--Baptism!!

So this week Jxxx got baptized! IT was awesome. She was really such a huge answer to our prayers and such a miracle. and this week we really saw a huge change in her dad too. We worked really hard and really set a goal to gain the trust of Jxxx parents. She's 18 so she doesn´t need permission but we really want to be able to baptize her parents too, only jilari was so prepared we didn't want to wait. So we talked to her parents this week about the decision jxxx had taken to be baptized and they both were really supportive. Her dad said that he would always support us but told us however am catholic and I don't want to go or listen but you are welcome to teach my daughter. Anyways so of course we invited her whole family to her baptism and we've been working really hard her to change some of the culture so that the baptismal services are more spiritual. And the spirit was so strong in her baptism. It was awesome. So afterward we were talking with her parents about it and i introduced them to the Bishop and he invited them to listen to us and to always come to church with Jxxx. And her dad just had a complete change of heart. IT was so special. He told us that he had never felt anything like what he had felt that night and that he was going to be there the next morning at nine and that he was always going to come and always going to support jxxx. Then when he gave her a hug after he was all teary-eyed and it was just so neat to see how the lord really touched their hearts and and open they are now to listen to us. They both came to church sunday, and loved it- the only catch is that they aren't married so looks like i'm gonna learn how to get people married. and a lotta patience. but it's all good. anyways so yesterday was pretty much Rad, these people from the area came and filmed us. It was super nervewracking. they did interviews and filmed us having a mock consejo de barrio and correlacion because they are going to do a training for the area based on our ward and how we are working here. Talk about pressure. But this ward really is amazing. The members are so strong and the work is incredible here. I feel so grateful that my heavenly father trusted me enough to send me to Miramar.

 Les quiero!

I apologize!! We have had technical difficulties so I have not posted Hannah's letters since November. I am catching you up now!

okay sorry that I don't have very much time today. we went to doctor appt. for Hna Gutierrez this morning. so we got here to this internet cafe a little late. .. not to worry or anything, it was just a quick checkup for her eyes. but no one is sick so we are all good, and as for our week. It was great! a little long to be honest but yesterday we just say miracle after miracle.

Like yesterday morning we were going crazy trying to get all our investigators to come to church and no one was going to go. I was literally so stressed and frustrated, but we did all we could. (seriously we ran up a hill that noramaly takes a solid half hour to get up, think hiking the Y and then 100 stairs (no lie) and you'll get the idea) but we got up there in ten mintues flat. About to pass out, mind you but we made it. Anyways we woke up our family of investigators to no avail. and booked it back down to mountain to catch a bus to get to the church. Praying with all our might that Heavenly Father would help us to have somenoe at church. and we had three! it was so awesome. And one of them is named Jilari. She has come to church three times and we met her yesterday, and are going to visit with her tonight to invite her to be baptized saturday! so pray for her and that everything goes well!

and last week we went to the beach to have a picnic! it was rad. we be keeping things cool. and you know i be representing my home team alemania! #futbolfrenzy its still going-

all my love,

The week in which I flood our house...True story

So. let's just say that happened. Ha, basically the longer I have in the mission the more ghetto my housing gets. So how the story goes is that here after noonish we don't have running water. so one night I accidently left the sink faucet open.............. and we woke up the next morning to a waterfall coming out of the bathroom. maybe I forgot to mention the fact that the sink also doesn't have plumbing. as in there is just a hole in the sink that lets all the water out on the floor. So, um that's awkward. there was water everywhere. so now I am careful to not leave it open at night. haha you win some you lose some. But in the end, we just did some impromtu cleaning and listo. haha and now I'm used to the morning routine of filling up big buckets of water so that we have water at night. It's not all it's cracked up to be haha. also I'm pretty sure we live on an ant hill. and the key to our apartment basically never works. but on the up side our church is huge! and beautiful! and so far away! But I'll take it! We are out in Ancon dad. a little bit less than an hour out from puente. So basically we are out in the boonies. but we have the beach #winning. Look up playa hermosa. and that's where I am. But we only go there on p-days because no one really lives there until the summer.

And lets just say there is a lot of sand here. But a lot. I feel a lot like I'm on trek these days from my memories of the women pull. Cause here we are and the majority of our area is just people who built houses on the sand. You thought they would have been wise and built on the rock but nope. haha #churchjokes. #ikillmyself But it never even rains here anyways.

So you know, that's the area highlights. I love it. The work is moving and the church here is strong. I love it. also hna gutierrez is from Guyaquil uh, sorry I can't spell- But I'm really happy to finally have an Equatorian companion. sorry my spelling is really hopeless.

Anyways, things are going great. sorry that all my internet time just ended and I basically said nothing hahah i'm the worst. (it's because now the only form of communication I have is email since serpost is broken. hahah i need to keep up with my peeps-)
we really do work way hard for the récord. hahah I'll send pics soon!

love,
